Christmas... in the News: Candace Cameron Bure Filming, Trends for 2025 & Lingering Christmas Lights

Welcome to this edition of Christmas... in the news. This is a review of Christmas articles and news over the last week. It's nice to have Christmas news this early in the season, and I feel like by July, it will get more typical to see weekly news.

CinemaBlend is talking about Candace Cameron Bure's latest Christmas movie project and how she--and other holiday movie stars--are used to filming seasonal movies in the warmer months. You can find the article, along with some neat photos, here.

Proving I am sometimes too busy, many content creators have already shared their trends for Christmas 2025, but I am just discovering them now. Check out their videos by clicking the hyperlinks below:

NPR has an advice column titled, Dear Life Kit. In this week's list of questions, a homeowner was asking what to do since it is May, and the neighbors still have their Christmas lights up (among other issues). I felt that the column writers gave great advice and truly embraced the spirit of the season. You can check it out here.

That's it for this week. Enjoy your weekend!

Three Things to do in May to Prepare for Next Christmas

I had hoped to share this post two weeks ago, but alas, my work schedule interrupted playtime, which includes blogging. Though it is late in coming to you, let's talk about three things you can do in May to prepare for next Christmas.

Not sure what it is like for you this time of year, but it has been crazy as all get out over here. Getting the Wilmington house ready for the summer season, celebrating birthdays and anniversaries, attending year-end activities for dance, and finalizing preparations for our daughter's June wedding. So, this month, instead of focusing on tasks, let's talk about three things to do to keep the Christmas spirit alive despite the crazy time of year it is for many of us.

Host a Christmas movie night

Thank goodness for streaming services, because it is now easier than ever to get a healthy dose of Christmas movies. Get your friends or family together and binge some holiday movies to inspire decorating ideas, craft ideas, menu ideas, and more!

Take some fun family photos

With so many people sending photo holiday cards these days, why not try an off-season family photoshoot? Using your favorite restaurant, outdoor space, or vacation spot as a backdrop, take out your camera and get some fun family photos. Adding a Santa hat or a scarf with mittens will make it feel Christmasy. But even if you take photos in your bathing suit at the beach, just think of all the wonderful memories you will make.

Plan a holiday game night

Remember when you came up with those new party game ideas last month? Check out the post here. Now is a great time to try them out with the family or a small friend group. What better way to capture that holiday spirit?

Try these ideas and let us know how they turned out.

Welcome to this edition of Christmas... in the news. This is a review of Christmas articles and news over the last week. It's nice to have Christmas news this early in the season.

The first bit of news is sad, but the business owner is looking for people to share. Robert Moore & Co. Christmas Town & Village Collectibles in Alabama has announced they are going out of business. Owner Larry Heard posted this announcement on the company's website. He encourages people to sign up for the VIP list to be the first to know about price breaks and sales.

Check out this recent video from Best Christmas Ever about a Christmas miracle in April for a cancer survivor and her family.

Hope you enjoy your week!
